Moving Tips ![]() Some tips to make your move smooth and easy. Take care that your belongings are packed well. Pack as much as possible in boxes, because that’s the best way to load the van. Don’t fill a box with just books or tableware. In that way, the boxes will weigh too much. A box should not weigh more than 20kg. The best way to load a box is not to fill them more than 3/4. So they can be lifted easy. Provide your fragile belongings in a transport-worthy way. You could use bubble-wrap for example. We prefer you to dismantle furniture when possible, before the moving. That way it will fit better in the van and your furniture will be easier to handle or to hoist. Furniture from IKEA isn’t transportable if it isn’t dismantled. Take care that your belongings are ready to load. It’s recommendable to put your belongings ready for loading (close to the door/window through which we’ll have to take them out) in order we need to load everything. This means: the furniture first, and than the smaller belongings. Turn off your fridge 24 hours before your removal. When turned off 24 hours ahead, your fridge will be more or less dry and transportable. A fridge is filled with a liquid. It’s better for your fridge to reconnect it again 24 hours after your removal. Disconnection of the washing machine. Disconnect the washing machine and make sure water can't spill out of it during the moving. You can prevent this by disposing of the water beforehand, and tape the water hose to the washing machine with the end up. Providing space needed to place the lift. The lift (if needed for your removal) needs to stand at a specific place (look under “Terms”). If we can’t put up the lift, we’ll only ask €50 for the call out charge (within Amsterdam). Provide for parking places for our van(s). It’s required to provide parking places for our van(s) to park as close as possible to your house. If not, we’ll spend a lot of time walking from your house to the van. Besides, one of us, needs to keep an eye at your belongings that are already loaded in the van. You can keep the parking places available (for example by parking your own there) or by asking for a permit at your City Hall. Asking for a permit, will take about 5 days and will cost money. In some cases, we’ll park our van with the blinkers on at the curb or at the street, but we want you to know that it’s the client’s risk. When we’ll get a fine, you will pay this cash to the driver of our van. Also the parking fee that needs to be paid to park our van, will be paid cash to our driver. Below you’ll see how much parking places you have to provide for our van(s). That counts for the diagonal parking places, as well as for the ones that are situated parallel to the street: Required space: 1 parking place for a van of 10m3 2 parking places for a van of 15m3 2 parking places for a van of 20m3 Tip from our movers: The last thing you should pack, is your coffee machine. This way, you can offer them a cup of coffee during their work. Cash payment at the end of the job. Please take care you’ll have enough money in cash at the end of the job. It’s recommendable to make a rough estimation before your removal. HAVE A HAPPY MOVE!!! |
